Then he would double his speed in reverse, which might be useful if he ever needs to do a Rockford maneuver.

Is the old one on Prozac, or maybe had a few drinks?

If you grab it really hard in both hands, stabilize the base part and then pull as hard as you can sometimes they will come.

it on top of the old one :p
![]() 02/10/2020 at 17:17 |

Sounds like you’ve pulled the shift knob on an E46 before...
![]() 02/10/2020 at 20:26 |

Do you have a sunroof? No, seriously, stand over the shifter with your head out the sunroof and pull up, so that when it does come loose, you don’t hit yourself in the face.

Yep managed to hit my chin so at least it didn’t leave a visible bruise.

Since everyone else is giving you bad advice, I say just pry/cut the top plate off of both of them and glue the better one onto the base of the bad one.

No, I would imagine not. Unless it’s so unhumanly cold you could shatter it with a light hammer strike.

Is that an Acura? I refurbished an RSX last year. Bought a new shift knob. It was a monster to remove. I had to use a strap wrench to get it started. The replacement was much easier to install and remove. I may have before, during and after photos

Just pull on your knob really hard and
you’ll eventually get it off.
